Los Angeles Times Book Prize

The nominations for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize have been announced.  The prize honors books in the following categories:  Current Interest, Fiction, First Fiction, Graphic Novel, History, Mystery/Thriller, Poetry, Science & Technology, and Young Adult Literature.  The winners will be announced April 29, 2011.

American Library Association Notable Books

The American Library Association Notable Books Council announced its selections for the 2011 Notable Books for Adults ListSince 1944, the goal of the Notable Books Council has been to make available to the nation’s readers a list of 25 very good, very readable, and at times very important fiction, nonfiction, and poetry books for the adult reader.

In addition to the Notable Books List, the American Library Association announced the 2011 Reading List, a list recognizing the best books in eight genres.
